Social Emotional Aspects Of Learning (SEAL)

We have always been proud of the school’s excellent care and guidance that supports our pupil’s social and emotional development. As we continue to further improve our provision we will be raising the profile of a positive ethos towards Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning by launching SEAL week.

We will be introducing different themes each week to promote learning and these will be incorporated into classroom teaching.

Activities this week will include;

MONDAY: “It’s good to be me” What am I good at? – Raising self awareness and self esteem.

TUESDAY: An afternoon of games based on “Socialising with my peers”

WEDNESDAY: “Look good, feel good” A day of pampering and personal care routines.

THURSDAY: “My Talents” An opportunity for pupils to share their talents and perform to others.

FRIDAY: A review of the whole week. Pupils and classes will share their experiences and work at the achievement assembly.

We will print the themes for SEAL each week in the newsletter so that you can support your child at home with their learning.

SEAL :               THE THEME FOR THIS WEEK IS: “ IT’S GOOD TO BE ME”

ART CLUB REQUESTS

The new lunchtime Art Club desperately needs your OLD SHIRTS and APRONS. Please send in whatever old tops you have in whatever sizes as we have students from ages 5 – 19 in the club !!!  Many thanks.  Lucia, Mary and Paul

EXTENDED SCHOOLS.

We are currently trying to gather information about the out of school services provided for your child and the transport facilities available to them. This is so we can work with the local authority to increase and extend the provision for more pupils to receive out of school activities both during term time and during the holidays.

We are trying to contact families individually by telephone and would really appreciate your input. Those of you whom we are unable to contact will receive a written survey that we will send out shortly.  If you would like to know more please contact Lucia @ school.

PARENT GOVERNORS

We are looking for parents or carers who are interested in becoming a school governor. It is important for our school that there are representatives from the children’s parents / carers on the Governing Body.  We need you!

There is help and finances available for childcare if you may require so.

Please contact the school if you are interested or just want to know more about it. Thanks

Primary and Secondary Department Meetings.

This week we are introducing whole department curriculum meetings. All staff in the primary department will meet this Friday afternoon to discuss curriculum planning and support for this term. This is an opportunity for the department to meet and develop as a team to extend the inclusive opportunities and provision available to your child. The secondary department will meet during the next few weeks.
